Sexy Costume Discounters - Witchy Shoe review

Halloween can be really fun but also quite stressful on the wallet. For the ones that really love to get into the whole dressing up of it all, it may be best to kind of keep that idea of what this years costumes are going to be and get some through the year. I usually do reviews on the costumes itself but for this post, I am going to be talking about the accessories. More specifically Witchy Shoes! (By the way, like the above picture? I laugh because I took the picture.... which means those are not my feet hehehe....) My poor boys!! LOL

Hopefully, I will be dressing up as the Wicked Witch from Wizard of Oz this year. I found the perfect shoes to give my Witch character some oomph. I love the outdated shoes as much as the next person but this pair gives me just the right amount of sexiness to make it fun. The pointed heel tops and the buckles are perfect.

I'm not a person that wears high heels a lot, so that is taking me some getting used to , but I will say that if you order these shoes for your costume and you are unsure of the size.. keep in mind the toes. Because, the shoes get very narrow where you see the point. You may want to go up a size if you are a 1/2 or don't want them to cramp your feet. I am usually fine in 7's but the toes cramp my feet a little. I am trying to break the toes in to see if I can get a little more room. However, you can always return them if the size is wrong.

At Sexy Costume Discounters,  you can get just that.... discounted sexy costumes and lots of  accessories. These particular shoes go for $29.99. I haven't even worn them yet, but I have been asked where I got them by two different people. You will see these shoes again when I come back on here with our Wizard of Oz group costumes. I can't wait to show you all the finished group! Until then, if you have a costume party with co-workers or summer fun planned, give Sexy Costume Discounters a try for all your costume and accessory needs. Dress up never dies!

There's a Jawa in my house! - A Wholesale Star Wars Costume review

I have never been a die hard Star Wars fan, but I have boys. I need to get used to the fact that no matter how old you are... most boys and men like it :) If you have no clue  what I am talking about (even though I think that is impossible )... here is the orginal trailer. My oldest is just starting to get into it. He has been talking about how he really wants a Star Wars costume. He is never with us on Halloween. That is a holiday his biological mother is entitled to, which is fine, cause it's a perfect trade for Easter. However, It does stink that we don't get to see him in costume and have him with us. So this year, I decided to grab him something from Wholesale Star Wars Costumes so that he can dress up in it before he goes with his mother this year. I can actually get a group shot of the boys in costume!

Since Darth Vader seemed to be running around everywhere, I went with something a little more original, which was easy to do because this site has an insane amount of costumes and accessories for all your Star Wars needs ( and with more coming soon). We got the Jawa costume. I went with this because I thought it resembled the movie well and of course had the cool light up eyes that any boy would love to show off.

The Gamer is a new Star Wars fan so he was not sure what a Jawa even was. But he loved the get up once it came in the mail. We got it in just a  couple days after we placed the order. I was a little worried about it fitting him because he is a large 10-12 but the measurements were M 8-10 or L 12-14. We got the Large and that worked out perfectly. It fit just right, even in length. Mind you... he is short though. So if you have a medium built (shorter side) 10-12 kid, the large is what you want. He loves it. You can see how the costume looks in the light and dark.

I do have one complaint on this particular costume. The eyes are lit with non replaceable batteries. If they would just have replaceable ones, then this costume would be able to be used to its fullest longer. Because lets face it, once the eyes don't light up... that is when the costume will be tossed aside... or at least for this kiddo. So he has been making sure he doesn't turn them on too much because he really wants to wear it for Hallowen this year and get a light sword to go with it.

Are you looking for a Star Wars costume for your fan? Don't forget to check out Wholesale Star Wars Costumes. More is being added to their inventory all the time. May the force be with you!

Costume Discounters - a review

It's getting close to that time where kids are starting to think about what they want to dress up as for Halloween and we as parents are doing our preparations. Costume Discounters is a great place to get all your costumes in one place at a really great price. I don't like shopping at department stores because usually they don't have what we are looking for because we usually do a group trick or treating with corresponding costumes. This year I am cheating though. Also, I don't like the quality of the costumes you can find at the popular department stores. They are usually very thin and stretchy so they look bulky and weird when you layer the kids underneath but they are not warm enough if you don't.

We browsed around at Costume Discounters and since the youngest had a cowardly lion costume already, Spaz wanted to be a tiger. So we searched out tiger costumes and found the Gold Tiger Club Costume. I thought it was adorable and Spaz loved it the minute he saw it. When we got it the next week, it had to be tried on first thing. I have to say... I am super happy with this! Not only is it just as adorable as it showed online but its great quality and will easily fit layers underneath and be warm. I love the feet. They have an elastic so it goes right under the shoes he will be wearing but it covers well so they look like puffy tiger feet. I wouldn't find that at the store.

This tiger costume can be found at Costume Discounters in their Toddler Halloween Costumes section. It is a two piece. The head that attaches with velcro under the chin and the body suit with the tale and feet covers. The head is a stuffed tiger head that sits on top and the costume is made of polyester. To care for this costume you need to hand wash and lay flat to dry. I don't recommend it but I have always washed in my washer with a gentle cycle and hang dry. I have a nub instead of a big agitator so I have never had a problem.

This costume can be bought for $26.97 and they will do free shipping on orders $60 or more. Which is great if you buy for multiple kids or for yourself too. Costume Discounters also guarantees the lowest price. If you find a price lower then theirs on the web, they will match that price plus take an additional 20% off! They also offer free exchanges so your satisfaction is important. If I was to buy something similar at a department store, I could probably spend $40-$50 easily. With all the birthdays we celebrate in my family at the end of the year along with all the holidays, this makes it easier for my kids to enjoy Halloween. Otherwise I would be hand making them like in years past and although it can be fun, it causes a lot of stress too!
What costume do you like from Costume Discounters?

Toddler Costume Review

I am lucky, and so are my kids. When I used to go trick or treating on Halloween, minus the very few exceptions, my siblings and I never had a costume ready. It was always last minute gathering of materials and panicking ourselves into mashed up characters. Well my boys and my sister's girls do not have the same problem. My sister and I have lots of fun coming up with new ideas and have things at least planned almost a year in advance lol. This may be going overboard but we like to think of group costume ideas for the kids to go together as. Until they are all too old to want this, we are fully taking advantage of us being able to be creative. Rainbow Brite, Raggedy Anne and Andy, and Strawberry Shortcake are a few that we have done.
This year we are buying the costumes instead of hand making them. It steals a little of the fun away for us but it also takes some of the stress away too. We deserve a year off of all the planning and preparing. This year we have pretty much decided to go with the Wizard of Oz. What a classic huh? And you would think that you  may have trouble finding all the extra characters besides the main ones we all know. This is not the case however. I got the Cowardly Lion Child Costume in the kids costumes section at Wholesale Halloween Costumes. This costumes' retail value is $49.99 and the wholesale price is $29.80.

I have the two boys in the group, so there are many characters I could do. They chose the lion however and we'll see who the other may be. The lion costume is perfect for both boys to play pretend in also because they always act like animals anyways. They are constantly going around pretending to scratch each other up. I got the costume in size small and since both boys are very similar in size, either one could wear it. I have put it on both and it looks fine on both. I didn't know if I liked the costume at first when I first saw it, but once I got it on Lil Riot, I fell in love. It is so great! The only thing I could possibly wish it had, is the the curls that the lion receives at Emerald City since this is a well known look for the lion. Either way though, we all loved it! Here is my handsome little guy in a couple more photos of this adorable costume...

This costume fits better on his 5 year old brother, but as you can see it looks fine on him too and he is 3. I also like that this will be nice and warm because it seems that Halloween in good ol' Maine seem to be getting colder and colder. This will definitely be better with the chills! And how can you not love this munchkin get up?

Wholesale Halloween Costumes have a huge variety of characters or classic costumes for both genders and in baby to adult sizes. To complete the Wizard of Oz set I may go with the Tin Man in boys costumes, or Glinda in girls costumes.

I am very excited for this year, and it is never too early to get the costumes in order. It will only mean less work and no last minute stressing. Grabbing a costume here and there throughout the year makes it a whole lot easier when there is multiple kids. Not to mention, the kids that love pretend... this is an all year thing anyways. I have a nephew that everyone would get different costumes for his birthday too because he loved to dress up as different things all the time. He has kind of outgrown this, but his collection is huge all the same. It sparks imagination, and we all know the girls love dress up!

My thoughts on the costume itself:
Absolutely love it! It is adorable, seems to be well made and be comfortable enough. It is made of nylon and needs to be hand washed. I personally didn't have a problem with the 'hand wash' cycle on my washer but you do want to be careful of the fur coming apart. It dries quick hung up and I would suggest doing so. You don't want the lion all patchy when they have their big night! We have gotten several compliments on this costume already.. when held up it is not so impressive, it does the trick once its put on!
Our lion is quite happy to show off thanks to Wholesale Halloween Costumes :)

Transformers Costume Review

Gotta love playing pretend. That was one of my favorite activities as a kid, and it seems to be that way with my boys in exception of the wii. (Sometimes I curse when that thing came in the house lol) My boys have quite a few ninja or monster costumes for the snowed in days to try and terrorize each other with. Their newest one is Megatron from the boys Transformers thanks to Wholesale Costume Club. You can order just about anything from them! They have  a HUGE selection. It's not just for Halloween, although they obviously have many kids Halloween costumes. There are seasonal costumes to get in the spirit like Mardis Gras, Valentines Day, St.Patricks Day, Easter and Christmas. They have any size you may need from baby to adult. The selection is endless. This is my youngest in their new Megatron costume, the 5 year old and the 3 year old can easily wear it and they loved it. They have actually played in it several times already and now they have another selection for Halloween if we procrastinate like I do sometimes lol. The mask is a one size fits all I believe because as you can see, it easily fits on my head as well. So the oldest can get in the action and play with it too... just not the body part :) I will be getting him something from Wholesale Costume Club as well. I know I will find ones even my 9 year old will love with all their boys costumes.
I was very excited to see other ones they had as well. Last year my sister and I was going to do Alice in Wonderland for a group idea with all the kids and I found some great costumes from that line! That will save time since we usually sew everything. They had Alice and the Red Queen but they also had Dorothy, the tin man and lots more! Sometimes it is nice to take a break from trying to hand make all the costumes we do.. especially since there are more and more kids each year lol. If you are looking for something specific for Halloween or just want more in your kids' pretend play bin, Wholesale Costume Club is definitely worth chi:)
