Valentines Crafts for kids (still time to do something fun!)

I always like to look around for fun things to do with the kids before certain holidays and events. We just got our family superbowl fun out of the way, now its onto Valentine crafts :) I went and gathered up some cute ideas that I liked out in the world wide web and put them here for you with the links. Hope some of you find some inspiration for your little ones! I still need to do something special for the teachers, one in particular.

First one I found that is super easy and really cute is from All Crafts They are adorable pencil toppers your kids will love making. You can get a package of 12 valentine pencils at the dollar stores, so this is really affordable and gives that personal touch..

  1. Cut a 1- to 2-inch heart from craft foam. With a permanent marker, print a short message on the front and the name of the giver on back.
  2. Now poke an inch of the pipe cleaner through the bottom of the heart, bend it down, and twist it back around the remaining length of pipe cleaner.
  3. Coil the pipe cleaner tightly around the pencil. Then gently pull up on the heart so that part of the coil bobs freely above the pencil, with several loops anchored around the eraser end.

The next one I thought was different and really cute was this love bug candy holder from http://www.daniellesplace.com. It is made with the large empty containers from the gumball machines in the store. For copyright reasons, I couldn't post the one from her site here, but click here... its worth a look! Here is one that is similar from from Earth Kids. These would be super fun to make and you don't need to buy a bunch of things from the machines..when you get some with your kids, save them and let people know you collect them. You can find them in the stores sometimes..don't be afraid to snatch them right up! After you make the bug.. put some penny candy in it and really give a unique treat out.

I wanted to find a box for the kiddies to put their valentines in and I love the mini mail boxes but this next craft I found was really nice and can be customized real easily. Its from Making Friends and I love it. Its made out of skill sticks and other glue and other embellishments. I actually have the supplies here this time, so I think I may just whip this up with a few changes for the boys to bring in. You know.. make it a little less lovey dovey and put some toughness to it! If I do, I will certainly put the finished product up for you to see. Go here for the link.

Last but not least, I want to post some recipes I thought were nice for the ones thinking of doing some baking. I love Family Fun, I go there alot for different project ideas, and they did it again with these cute cup cakes. Anything train sticks out to me because my boys are train obsessed. Look at these I Choo-Choose You cupcakes!

I would love to see other ideas people have. Please shoot me an email or leave a comment with a link. You can never get too many ideas!
