So, I have kids that will get into anything.... I mean, anything! They climb walls, they high dive off dressers and open any containers they can. One of the times they were climbing and getting into things, the two youngest decided to open the laundry detergent and dump it all over the washer. It got on the inside of the drum and in all the cracks of the door. You would think that the clean up wouldn't be that bad with it being a washer and all. You can just run it through a cycle and get it rinsed out.. not the case. It got in places I guess didn't get rinsed and over time it started to smell like a mildew / old pipe kind of smell. It wouldn't come out all the time but it would be evident enough and it was gross! So I was very excited to try smelly washer. Anything that may clean that nastiness up would be great.
Smelly Washer is for problems just like that. It is an all natural solution for your washer odor. You just add one level cap to an empty washer. Fill in a hot soak cycle and soak 2-6 hours. Run the rinse and let it drain. Unfortunately, I have a newer set for my washer and dryer that thinks it is smarter then me. It doesn't let me manually fill it up and let soak. I only had the option to run it on my longest cycle with pre-soak. I will need to check into this further because to tell you the truth, it angers me that my washer won't let me soak laundry!!! lol.
So right now I can't soak it as long as it requires, but at first after I added the smelly washer.. when the water was pouring in I actually smelled the grossness like it was drawing it out. It was kind of weird. It really smelled at first but by the end of the cycle it wasn't evident anymore. This could just be a coincidence or it could really work well!
