What are you waiting for? The One Thing No One Ever Tells You About Sex by Dannah Gresh - a book review

This was one of those books that I couldn't wait till it came in the mail. I had read the description and thought that this would be perfect to read since our boys are getting older and being a Christian woman, sometimes I  wonder what is considered to be permissible during this time. This book sounded as though it would have all the answers. In a world that is sex driven, you need to be prepared to answer questions by your kids but protect as much as possible. I will say that this book was not what I thought is was going to be, which was disappointing. However what she did bring to the table, I am very grateful for.
Dannah Gresh comes right out in the beginning telling you that she is going to use the words that make you blush and go right into the heart of certain acts being right or wrong according to the Bible. She tells us that she has the answer and knows something that we have never been told. Now I found many things in this book  helpful and enlightening but I didn't hear something I haven't thought of or heard before. But, for no other reason, this book is a candid, romantic, easy to read guide to really remind you that it isn't so hard to avoid things that may take you away from God.
I have read other reviews on this book and did not disagree with the fact that she seems to beat around the bush on some important areas when it comes to being biblically acceptable or not. I think she did this so as to not offend someone who may fall into this category and turn them off. I actually think that she went about the tough issues with much wisdom and patience and it shows in her writing that she truly cares about others and the struggle of sexual sins. There was a couple times with my initial reading that my feathers got a little ruffled but after I stopped myself and read it again, what she was saying rang a lot of truth.
Overall, this was not the mind boggling, life altering read I thought it was going to be. On the other hand, it did help me with some questions I had and I'm sure others may find this to be what they are looking for.

This book was given to me by Blogging For Books in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks for reading.
