To Win Her Heart by Karen Witemeyer - a book review

A test of faith and a hope for second chance is what Levi Grant wishes for when moving to Spencer, Texas. He is massive in size and stands out in the crowd, so one can only hope to keep his past secret as long as possible. No one knows he is not that man anymore. He turned over a new leaf and turned back to God. With enough money to start his blacksmith shop and clothes that do not sport black and white stripes, things can hopefully only go up for Levi. He did not expect to stumble on Eden.
Eden Spencer, a lady who's father named the town, is more then content being a spinster. Jaded before by a man looking for dowry and not love, she has sworn off men and devoted herself to charity and children. She noticed Levi. Who couldn't? He was huge and spoke slow but seemed so gentle at the same time. Even though he refused to say her name instead of Ma'am, she was slowly being introduced to a whole new side of him. Through letters a relationship started blooming, but hidden truths were left out of the pages.
With a jealous sheriff determined to own Eden, those truths are forced in front of their faces. Will the past ruin the hopes of the future for a man trying to start a new honest life? Or will it keep Eden a spinster but with a ruined reputation on top of it?

My thoughts on the book:
It was easy to fall in love with or hate the characters in this story. However I found myself being able to predict everything until a scene closer to the end made all the difference. It tugged at the heart strings and leaves you feeling proud. Even with the predictable start, this book turned out to be a very fun read and I was  done it in two days. There were many touching moments in this book with lessons on forgiveness and hypocrisy. For anyone that is into love stories and historical fiction, you will find this a charming addition to your library.
