This post brought to you by Straight Talk. All opinions are 100% mine.
I don't usually talk about cell phones or plans on this blog, but I made an exception for this one because I actively use Straight Talk now. I had been hearing about it for a little while before I made the purchase and I have to say that after having contracts and tracfones, Straight Talk by far, was the best fit for me. I purchased two phones for my husband and I and we have never had a problem with them. You can get the all you need plan with 1000 minutes, 1000 texts and 30 mb of data for $30 or you can get them all unlimited for $45 a month. My husband was fine with the $30 plan, but I upgraded to the unlimited. It really does have everything you need. I had never run out but I didn't want to by two cards in one month and for just $15 more I didn't need to worry.
Now, I live in a very rural part of Maine, so lots of people have had problems with reception on their phones. I had some issues inside the home but only experienced a few dropped calls in the whole time I have had this phone and plan. So the network was great. There are no activation, reactivation or termination fees. You just grab a card like the ones for tracfone. You call in the number on the card and you get your month. They will remind you a couple days before it runs out by sending you a text. You can also set it up with your credit/ bank card and just call Straight Talk to renew. One thing that I do want to warn you of however, is that if you upgrade from the All You Need Plan to the Unlimited Plan, you are risking the chance of changing your phone number. I found that out the hard way :/
Phone selection is great. I got the Samsung T404G and I love it. It's simple enough, has a full slide out keyboard, a camera and mp3 player. The selection of phones have continued to grow. They even have a nokia smart phone. What smartphone with everything included costs $500 a year?? For $5 a month, you can buy a great international long distance service that works from any phone so you can call a friend wherever they may be.
Want more savings? You can also get these phones even more cheap by buying them reconditioned, starting at just $10!There are no contracts, no surpsise bills and no credit checks. Great nationwide converage and excellent reception/ connectivity. Finally, Straight Talk only uses trusted phone manufacturers like LG, Motorola, Kyocera, Nokia and Samsung. Above is the one I chose. I love it.
Fun Factoid: Straight Talk is the official mobile phone of the FLW. If you sign up with Fantasy Fishing you can win a share of $500,000 in cash and prizes. It's free to play, and makes a great hook, line and sinker ! Check them out and browse their phones, I know I wouldn't be in contract right now in this economy, and I know I am saving money!
