Weekend Reading - The Seraph Seal by Leonard Sweet, Lori Wagner - a book review

This book does not waste any time in getting you thrown right in the middle of what seems like a great action flick. Jumping in and out of scenes all over the world, this fast paced tale starts off with the births of 8 children, all born at the same exact time, with the same odd shaped birthmark. Jumping ahead 32 years later, these babies are all important keys to figuring out a mysterious prophecy to the future and save humanity.
It is 2048 and the world is in chaos. Wars have broke out, sickness is taking lives, natural disasters are happening all over the place, technology has advanced dramatically and organically grown food is becoming extinct. Professor Paul Binder (one of the 8 babies) ,along with the help of his co-worker Angela,  start seeing the signs of them being a part of something big. They start traveling all over the world and putting the pieces together while the demonic president of the US, with the same birthday and birth mark as Paul, knows his role already and prepares. A battle between good and evil has begun.

My thoughts:

At first I was intrigued. It was very fast paced and brought you in one scene to jump to another. I liked that. Some books you can see as a movie already, this was one of them. It has a great story line and the characters are ok. This 'fish tale' , as Leonard calls it, is quite a vision of how things could unfold in the end of times for ones that believe in the Biblical prophecy... or so I thought. I thought that Leonard and Lori had great insight and made me think sometimes with things in how they were presented.
However, what started off as a great epic tale that seemed believable and appeared to be pretty parallel to the prophecy, started taking a turn and dived into a science fiction scenario. Parts were still believable, even in the end, however it bent the possibility a little too much and lost its momentum for me. It was like watching a psychological thriller and then all of a sudden aliens appear. Even though this was quite a disappointment, it was still a page turner with lots to offer.
I would just like to stress that this is a work of FICTION and verses were added that are not really in the Bible, so please just keep this in mind when you are reading this fascinating novel.
