The Christian's Zombie Killers Handbook, Slaying the living dead within by Jeff Kinley

If you are looking for a unique read... you know.. something you may not have expected or have read before and like zombies, this book may be a great fit for you. The Christian's Zombie Killers Handbook, Slaying the living dead within is an interesting approach in showing us that we all have the dead among us. That is, christian zombies that need an awakening and see that there has always been an evil out there that would love nothing better than to bring us into the underground.
In one chapter, we are following Ben Foreman in the zombie outbreak and in the next we are in a parallel commentary of what the Ben story is truly saying with it's allegorical examples.
Jeff has mixed for love of writing horror and his christian faith together to birth an original idea. Approach the 'unapproachable' and deliver an important message in a killer way.

My thoughts

It was definitely an interesting approach and I admire that he mixed horror with faith to impact our zombie lovers and reach out in the name of God. That rocks!
I did however find myself rolling my eyes a few times with the zombie end of things, only because it seemed to much like an 80's horror flick for me. You could almost hear the cheesy organs with lines such as 'It was clearly a man. though the top part of his head was missing, and the brain was gone'. This was right in the beginning.
It was enough to keep me interested, somewhat,  and I actually did get into the side discipleship. It was like a weak coffee for me. Would do in a fix but not that enjoyable for me. However, I am going to be passing this on to a zombie fan I know and since this would be the 'target' audience, he may have a different opinion.
If you have a zombie loving teen in mind or a horror buff that may be just starting to get into their faith, this would be a perfect gift for them. If nothing else, to add to their zombie collection. Overall I rate this book (to my personal taste) a 3 out of 5. Not my thing, but not bad either.

I received this book for the purpose of review from Booksneeze. The opinions in this post are 100% my own and may differ from yours.
