Having three boys means get used to expecting the unexpected and dull moments are rare. Besides the 7 - 8 hours that they are required to rest so their bodies can catch up with their brains, my boys are ALWAYS active. It drives me nuts actually. I mean.. they can't even sit still for a minute! There is always something moving, whether it is them running like crazy or just bouncing their legs. Don't get me wrong, I love that they have energy but it's hard keeping up with them at times and coming up with activities on occasion.
When we heard about Heelys, it was a no brainer that we had to try them out. I saw a knock off brand at one of the big department stores and thought "hey... it's the same thing but half the price and he won't care anyways" ... WRONG! This would be one of those cases that I got what I paid for.
This particular shoe had two wheels that screwed in. Not only was that a pain in the butt to take in and out but they just stopped going on so tight and then got shelved because it was a rock catcher and nothing more. Never have I seen a pair of shoes get discarded so fast. They didn't even get demoted to 'play shoes' !
Well, now I have redeemed myself. A pair of Double Threat Heelys was sent out to 'The Gamer' and wow what a better reaction this time! The shoes came with a convenient little tool to pop the wheels out (and they had no screws by the way!) and they also came with covers that snaps in so no rocks can get in the heel, thus turning them into the skater boy style he loves. You know he likes them when he wears them voluntarily to school and chooses them over the Nike's his mother bought him. (Let's just say his mother could buy him a barbie and it would be gold to him!)
He loves that the wheels can come in and out just from one pop and lock, and the tool makes it super easy as well. He just keeps the wheels and tool in the shoe closet or shoves them in his pocket when we go out and about. These are the perfect gift and footwear for our little wanna be teen. The sizes are pretty dead on. If you are unsure though or fall in between, I would get a size up.
Now I will be talking about Black Friday and some great finds out there pretty frequently in the upcoming weeks. Heelys is throwing their own Black Friday special. Buy a pair of Heelys between November 25th-November 28th and you get the second pair for only $25. OR... buy a Nano and get a pair of shoes for $25. What is a Nano? I asked the same question... then I looked it up. This is a Nano, the first ever inline footboard.

I received a pair of Heelys for the purpose of review. The opinions in this post are 100% my own and may differ from yours.

Yea, that looks pretty fun! You see that black section on the top. If you look closely you can see that it would fit in just like the wheels. So, you can be skateboarding in style and having the extra security that you are locked in. It's sort of like training wheels but for the teens (shhh.... they don't need to know I said that!) I am sure that Gamer would absolutely love it.
