Stocking Stuffer suggestion: Spot It and Tell Tale games from Blue Orange

Spaz (my middle son) can read. Not only can he read, he can read well. He read his first book, which was Hop on Pop by Dr.Seuss by the age of 3 . I was shocked. However, he seems to have a problem with reading comprehension. If you ask him to predict what he thinks might happen next, he seems to struggle with it. So his teacher asked us to work with this because if he honed this skill, where he is already reading everything, he would be unstoppable. I definitely want to follow her advice. So I got some books to help him do that.
One thing that is helping him, is a game that we got sent to review. The game is called Tell Tale and it is from Blue Orange. The object of the game is to use your cards to tell a story. You can have 1-8 players and is suggested for ages 5 - adult, but my 4 year old loves it and actually got the hang of it before my 6 year old. There are 60 cards and each one has an image. Using the images, the kids improvise stories. There's nothing like a good imagination and this game is a fantastic way to get your kids building theirs.
There are a couple suggestions on how to use these cards as a story book and they give you 4 game variations to get you started. You can buy this game for $12.99 here.

Another fun game from Blue Orange's Pocket collection is Spot It! This game was more up my 4 year old's alley. He loves to do those hide and seek books and he seems to be really good at it. Spot It consists of 55 cards that all have a variety of symbols on them, with one symbol being larger and in the center of the card. The goal is to be the player that ends up with the most cards by matching symbols from their card with an that is displayed on the card at the top of the deck. There is always one, and ONLY one matching symbol between any two cards in the game.

This game can be played with 2-8 players and is intended for ages 7+ but as I said... my 4 year old is quite good at it and loves it (even if he isn't as fast sometimes). They include 4 mini game suggestions and also tell you how you can play in tournament mode.
You can buy Spot It!, from Blue Orange's pocket collection for $12.99, here.

Both of these games come in nice little tins and will fit perfectly in your kids stocking. They are super portable and can benefit your child greatly while they have fun at the same time.

Let me know what games you come up with. We would love to hear it!

I received a sample of these games for the purpose of review. The opinions in this post are 100% my own and may differ from yours.
