Glow in the dark or black light activated has been the newest movement in my house with the boys. They are fascinated with all things glowing. They also love music, so shirts from Light My Shirt is the perfect blend for these guys. The shirt is powered by 3 AAA batteries that are in a pack that can be stored in the pocket that is provided inside the shirt. There is also a clip that you can use to hook this to a pants pocket or whatever but be careful when using it. Ours broke the first time trying to use the clip. So, we just keep it in the pocket. The battery pack has a light to show you that it is on and also has a dial where you can turn up the sensitivity.
They offer men, women, tank tops and the children sizes are actually adult sizes so if you are buying for younger kids you may want to go with xxs or xs. There is not really a size for kids under 5-6 years old at this time. You can always contact if you are unsure. These shirts would be great to just listen to music in your living room or to have fun out at the club. My son really likes history stories and is very patriotic for his age so he just loved the flag design. They also have some funny designs like the one that looks like it is loading and says 'Thinking..please wait' or the well loved Spongebob with his imagination rainbow.
The flag design feels like a kind of rubber and is almost like a really thick iron on. This shirt is completely washable in the washing machine. I still would try not to wash it on a regular basis and use a gentle cycle but it is indeed washable.
