I have been quite a lucky gal when it comes to how I got my musical instruments. My drum (bongo style and hand painted) and an electric keyboard were given to me by my parents. I still have the keyboard but the drum was broken long ago. I now also have a full piano thanks to my cousin and a great guitar given to me by my brother. I have always loved music and have learned enough of all my instruments to mess around and enjoy playing some of my favorite songs.
Following the gift of my guitar, a guitar starter kit was added. I loved the kit and the strap was great. But now my husband has been pulling the guitar out and playing just as much as I do (if not more) and the purple nylon strap needed an upgrade with a more unisex feel.
When I came across LIszkoUSA on Etsy, it looked like they had just what we needed. Something universal but also nice and rugged. We tried out one of the Old 90 series. Now, I made a bone headed mistake when choosing a strap because I didn't realize till it was on it's way that it was perfect for bass guitars while I was getting it for my acoustic. The bass straps are meant to hold more weight so they will be a little thicker and wider. Sometimes more stiff feeling. I was looking all through the shop, I must have gotten it mixed up. I liked the looks of this strap and when it came, not only did it not bother us at all but actually seemed to be a good thing.
My husband has broad shoulders. So when he put the Old 90 series strap on the guitar, it actually seemed to fit quite nicely. It wasn't cutting into him at all and since he's not playing for hours at a time, it never seemed to get too bulky for him. Mind you, I would n't recommend this if you play acoustic a lot throughout the day. It might get a little much at that point. No fears on quality though. We noticed right away that this strap is very durable. Unless my dog gets to it (which is highly unlikely because the guitar is kept on top of my piano) there is no reason to get another except for having a variety.
This particular strap is made with natural leather and felt on the inside for added comfort for your shoulders. The measurements are : 3.5" wide by 43" long ( extendable to 60' ). The straps that are geared for the classic guitars are double layered leather. I chose the black 'brick' like pattern because I thought that had a classy look to it. However, they offer laser burned or embroidered straps as well. In fact, if you go to their site you can have a custom strap done to your own liking. What a gift that would be to the aspiring rock star in your family that has a design already in mind. To get your custom guitar strap visit www.liszkousa.com and send them in your idea.
About The Company (pulled from their site)
Liszko was founded by Andrzej Liszko in 1989. The company has been specializing in making products that are made of leather since the beginning of the 90s. In 2005, the company began making professional guitar straps. In the last few years, the company has become popular among guitarists and bass players because of the high quality standard Liszko has set for itself. The straps that are produced by Liszko are exclusively made of high quality natural leather - that is why they are so comfortable and why musicians love them. What is more we also produce nylon guitar straps as a cheaper alternative. Liszko's goal is to continually produce new lines of straps to keep our products on the cutting edge of creative technology.
