I'm not usually one to rant and rave online but when I have an experience like the one I had with NCP, I feel the need to share with others, especially when they may be thinking about joining.
Right from the git go, I have had nothing but headaches and irritations with this company and trying to set up the home scanner. In case you were wondering what this program is about.. NCP offers a home scanner for people to scan their purchases in exchange for points. These points can be turned in for some great prizes. Now mind you, you aren't going to get these prizes quickly. This is sort of like a superpoints or mypoints kind of thing but you don't purchase through NCP. You simply scan what you buy during the week and it transmits to NCP and you get your points.
When I got my scanner, I set it up and then started to look at the enclosed instructions. The pamphlet I received must have been sitting on someone's desk because I literally got a paper that had coffee ring stains all over it. Whatever, I drink a lot of coffee.. this was overlooked. Then I called NCP because the scanner had power but the transmit button was not blinking and it looked like I had no connection. So I called to let them know and the lady I got seemed all too irritated I had called. She told me if the power button is lit up, I should be fine. I told her ... Yes... I have power... just no connection. I will be scanning items that will not be transmitted. She gave me a 'your an idiot' tone and said it was fine.
I then got a call (this is the only pleasant part) from a lady that told me my scanner hadn't transmitted.... duh. So I told her what happened. She apologized and said that the lady should have known to just hit the reset button at their office. She helped me get it transmitting in a matter of seconds. So all was good or so I thought.
I then started getting emails to get extra points for doing the surveys. I went to go log in online and they had frozen me out of my account due to unsuccessful log ins. Which is funny because I had only gone on the day I got the scanner to set it up.
So, this morning I call to get that fixed. They open at 9am. I called at that time. I was on hold for an hour and 15 minutes being told I was caller number one, then I was caller number 5, then caller number 3.... I finally hung up and called back. A lady answered right away. She took some information, put me on hold again, then asked why I was calling.
I told her I wanted a box with a return label in it so I could send the scanner back. She asked... "So you are dropping?" I said I haven't even been able to get it started and I have had one problem after another. Instead of finding out why I was upset, she simply said... "Your box will arrive within 5-7 business days" ... and that was that. Such satisfaction after an hour and 1/2 hold and upset feelings! I have never dealt with a more delinquent company besides the horrible experience I got from one jerk at Dish Network... but that was a rant a lifetime ago.
Please be warned before you join the National Consumer Panel at home scanner program, since they are hiring right now!

The opinions in this post are 100% my own and may differ from yours.

Crystal,
I'll no longer feel bad that they never have openings for where I live.
