Toying With The World (Infographic by Frugal Dad)

I was sent an email from Frugal Dad and thought it was interesting enough to post. I love seeing my kids faces light up when they open their presents just as much as the next person, but the last couple years my husband and I have been subtly cutting back the amount of presents they get for birthdays and Christmas. One reason being that our income has been cut down (and lost it altogether for a while) but they other is because I am getting so tired of my boys acting more selfish than they should, and replacing the batteries all the time. I have definitely seen where the simpler and more home made type of toys (such as the train set) has been such a great investment. No batteries, a favorite for several years, gets their imagination going and they create the track different every time. Anyways, I agree that the kids are over stimulated (not in a good way) and a heck of a lot more expectant then they maybe should be. Something to think about anyways when we spend more than we should getting the next best thing out there in gaming or toys just because.
