Flexbelt Review: Week One!

This summer.... this is the summer that I will claim my health and body back and this year I am accepting help from products and plans to get me further in my endeavors. My first product friend that has been lending a hand... or ems pulse, is the Flex Belt. I know what most of you are thinking..

"Does that actually work? I thought it was a fad." Well... I'm not sure what the end result is going to be yet but I am trying the ab belt out and want to include you in every step of the way. This is the first week that I have had it on and let me tell you how it's going. But first, let me tell you what it claims to do and why it should work.

From the website:

"You don't have to worry about your form or come up with the time to get it done. The Flex Belt is clinically demonstrated to deliver firmer, stronger and more toned abdominal muscles while you are: at home, at work, watching TV, exercising, folding laundry, helping your kids with their homework, taking a walk...virtually anywhere and anytime."

  • The unique construction of the Flex Belt® features three pre-positioned, medical-grade Gel Pads, covering the central abdominals and external obliques.
  • During your toning session, signals from the Flex Belt® reach out to nerves where they are most concentrated.
  • These nerves branch out to all of the stomach muscles causing them to contract and relax naturally, working all of the muscles at the same time, not just those directly under the gel pads.

Week One and my thoughts:

First off, let me say...  this is by no means a product that is meant to replace exercise! This is a helping hand like the weights or sit ups. Besides surgery, there is nothing out there that will just magically spit the fat out of your body with no work. That being said... here are my thoughts.

The process to get it set up and ready to go is very easy. You get the The Flex Belt, the gel pads, the controller and charger. You simply put the gel pads where you need them but MAKE SURE YOU KEEP YOUR COVERS TO PUT BACK ON! Then you plug in your controller and away you go. When it needs to be charged, just unplug the controller and plug into the charger that plugs into the wall outlet.

Obviously it is too early to tell you if the belt will give me great results overall but here are my opinions so far.

I started off getting used to wearing it and its pulses by slowly increasing the intensity starting at 25. I put it on program 1. At first it feels like a slight zap but not painful. It is more like a jiggle. You can feel the belt on. Since I had never used it before I was worried that this was what the pulses felt like. But once I got used to the belt and was more comfortable just finding my setting, I stopped at 70. There is 150 settings in all. 70 was where I felt the contractions of the muscles but it wasn't too intense to handle. I wore it while I mowed my lawn.
When the 30 minutes was done in the program, I wanted to do more because I wasn't feeling like it was doing much. I ended up wearing it for an hour and 1/2 in my first sitting. This was probably a mistake though because the next day I did feel soreness in my abs and when I put the belt on the pulses were a little too much so I took a day off.
The day after that I was able to bring it up to 85 and did programs 2 and 3. Now, I am not looking to get really defined abs and I know I won't have a perfect body when I am done, however, I feel at this point that it will be perfect for what I want. I am not really overweight but I am not toned and fit. My goal is to strengthen my core and get that feminine hourglass shape to my belly so I can proudly wear my swimsuit this summer. Here are the reasons I think this is going to work:

My muscles are sore just like I did crunches. I don't think that this would happen if my abs were not getting a workout.

After week one, I feel tightened in my ab area. Maybe this is wishful thinking but I truly don't think so.

Here is my first picture. It looks a little stretched but it serves the purpose of showing you how I progress in the upcoming weeks. So here is my week 1 picture. It looks a little weird since I was stretching my arm to take the photo lol.

You can purchase the Flex Belt (comes with one set of gel pads) on their site for $199.99. The replacement gel pads that should be replaced every 30 sessions can be grabbed for $14.99.

I don't feel comfortable telling you it is worth the purchase quite yet obviously, but keep following the weekly check ins. So far, my outlook is very positive. I will be providing pictures so you can see for yourself if there is any difference. If the belt helps me get my flat tummy back with that sexy indent after giving birth to my boys, then I would definitely say it is worth its money and love that I didn't have to hurt my back to get these results!

I tried several times to get a clip of the pulses. This is the best clip I could get. I move in between the pulses to show you from different views.

What are your thoughts on the Flex Belt for an ab workout? Do you have any questions that you want me to answer about the product? I will be as thorough as I can in answering you so you can feel confident in your decision to buy or not. I will be back next week with my check in and thanks for reading!

I received this product for the purpose of review. The opinions in this post are 100% my own and may differ from yours.

I think that looks like an easy way to get in some muscle training :) My only concern is having to replace the pads. I wish there were a better way.

Hi Tiffany,

If your concerned about the gel pads, try this. After every few uses, I will apply a hand sanitizer like Purell to clean them. Then, I reattach the plastic covers that they came with so that they are not exposed to the air. It nearly doubles their useful life!
