The Caramel Apple Election: A yummy way for kids to learn about voting.

Voting, we all know it is important but it seems to be something that we adults will indulge in if we have the time but don't take it as seriously as we should and give it the attention it deserves. Some out there are active in getting the word spread and trying to get others involved but where we really lack this guidance is with our children.

Kids don't usually know the first thing about voting and the elections. This is sad since they are the next generation that will lead our country and their voice will soon be the loudest. Don't we want them to know what they are doing? Well, what if we had a really simple and fun way to teach them about it where the whole family can get involved and have fun with it?

Author Vanessa Purdom has wrote a great guide for teachers, youth leaders and home schoolers at the elementary grade level to hold mock elections to teach kids about voting in a cute and fun way. Now, before we get all worried about what may be in this guide as far as what views are being spotlighted and all that.. this book takes the focus away from the parties and any negativity. It is a win win situation. Honestly, I think our parties need to take a lesson from this and really get rid of the 'parties'. It causes to much anger.

"The Caramel Apple Election" is a full color, fully illustrated 8.5" x 11" book that tells a charming story that pits "red apples" against "green apples" in a "fun" contest to see which apple makes the best caramel apple. Author Vanessa Purdom had this idea when she was volunteering at her kids' school in the Fall of 2010.

Vanessa has gotten a new Kickstarter project in the works and needs our help to get this book all over the nation. Her goal is to get as many mock elections going on across the country as possible but she needs help raising the funds to get this important message spread to our kids.

You can purchase this book on Amazon for $11.95 starting today! This would be great to grab not only for yourself but maybe a copy for the local library and your child's school as well. Who wouldn't want to learn about voting while enjoying caramel apples?
