Summer Blog Challenge: Travel and Plans for the Summer

I have actually mentioned it quite a bit on here but this is the prompt for today so here's more of it :)
Plans for the summer will be squeezed in when it can but special events have kind of taken over this year. Out of state family visitors, weddings, big number birthdays, baby showers, babies arriving while working does not leave much room for planning out vacations for ourselves. However, we will definitely be utilizing the beautiful scenes around us. Luckily I live in a great spot where a little bit of travel can get us to a variety of places. In about an hour and a half, in different directions, we can be at some fantastic waterfalls, a beautiful rocky beach with an amusement park or hiking a breathtaking mountain.
This is why I love Maine, especially in the summer. So even though I have no concrete plans, we are going to be busier then ever this year and will see just a little more of our 'backyard' .
What plans do you have?

Summer Blog Challenge: A poem I wrote

Painter Of My Visions

I feel your touch and I crumble,
I hear your words and I drown.
I try to speak but stumble..
lost in only you, where all my love is found.
Joined for eternity, I'm heart and your soul..
an unbreakable bond, I must say.
For without one or the other, we aren't whole
and we wouldn't be feeling this way.

You're the painter of my visions,
when we're together you and me.
You're the base of my decisions,
for what I want forever to be.
You're the polaris in my sky,
shining above the rest.
For you I never have to try.
You... you bring out my best.

This poem has protection and has been published in a poetry book several years ago.

Summer Blog Challenge: What am I doing currently that is eco-friendly?

I would love to be more eco-friendly than I am. I do try. I use re-usable bags when I can remember to bring them into the store, I try to get recycled packaging when buying products and recently I have switched all my household cleaning products to all natural ingredients such as vinegar water and use alot of Natural House cleaners.

One contribution that will be starting soon is being involved in an upcoming group that will meet at the local library that will be discussing how things can be made from nature and and learning about what nature offers in general. Things that we will be doing will be making our own perfumes, dyes, cleaners and medical treatments. There will be lots of crafts and hands on type of projects to learn more about what we can grab in our own backyards. Not only will I learn a lot from this group but I will definitely be sharing it right here on this blog as well.

Are you involved in any groups like this? If so, what sort of home made things have you done?

Summer Blog Challenge: My Style

I jumped into this challenge a little late but thought this was a great idea and even if I miss a day here and there, it will give me great prompts to get more personal posts up to all of you.

Today's topic is style. My nickname used to be 'Granola' if that tells you anything. I have always liked hippie, bohemian and earthy inspired clothing. I love the look of beautiful wrap around skirts and the comfortable feeling of a breathable flowing sleeved shirt. If it is done right, I don't believe it could ever go out of style. While looking online to show you an example I found a lovely summer dress that screams my style.

It has all my favorite colors in it and looks extremely comfortable. If I had it my way, my closet would be filled with this look and I would have lots of earthy inspired jewelry to go with it. Love it!
