I think I may have made a mistake with reading this book right off. I did not read the book that came before it. I don't ever usually do that, but this time I did. I don't know if this would of changed my opinion on it or not, but I may have had a bigger liking for the characters. But I don't see it.
This book is about a well known pastor and his wife, both being unfaithful to each other and bringing kids into their family by their affairs. The latest one being a two year old girl that the pastor fathered and is now living with them because the mother died. The wife can not handle the reminder of the affair living with them and is completely hateful to the little girl. The rest of the book is all cause and effect with, what I believe, is too perfect for the drama situations.
I can get into drama just like everyone else. But I definitely feel like I have wasted my time when I do. This is one of those examples for me. The book kept me reading but I feel like I shouldn't of. It wasn't horrible or anything. It just wasn't my cup of tea, in fact I've announced it enough.... I am a coffee person. There was just too much hatred towards the little girl for me to be comfortable with, even with fiction and the situations in the book were a little too convenient.
But, this author is a New York Times bestseller and just because it is not quite my cup of tea, that doesn't mean you wouldn't enjoy it's read on a rainy afternoon. If you like books that play out like the soaps, you may want to grab one of these. I will be donating my copy to the local library.
