From what the news was showing, it looked like we were going to be in Irene's direct path. This is very unusual for us to get any kind of weather like that. Living in central Maine, we are lucky enough to avoid most situations like this. However, the weirdness of Irene and the path she was choosing to take, had us quite concerned. We still may not have been the ones that got it worse, but it would be a reminder why we are so lucky that we don't have this kind of weather. Irene did change her mind and go west of us. Which was great for us but still odd that she didn't go out to sea. My thoughts and prayers go out to anyone who lost somebody in this storm. It's sad to know that some still died in this tantrum from Mother Nature since we had so much warning. It's just tragic. This is why I don't want to not heed the warnings when my husband is more likely to say 'nah... we ain't getting anything'. Living in a mobile home, I'd rather be safe then sorry! The weather has gotten crazier and crazier. He may end up eating those words someday. But, hopefully not!

We did enjoy the wind. We both love pre-storm weather, so we definitely took advantage of the beautiful wind and the rain was so spontaneous that it didn't even feel like it got us wet. It was a real refreshing sprinkle really. We let the boys jump in the car and we just went down our private dirt road. However, we couldn't make it too far down because a tree had been knocked down.

Also saw in the paper today that a bridge had collapsed after a truck just made it across. We went for a short ride (after buckling the kids in of course!) Then we just drove back to our house and took some pictures outside. It definitely showed my husband and I how massive this storm was though. For us to be getting any damage and such fast swirling skies where we are when the storm completely went north-west of us, it was just amazing. Anyone have any pictures that they took?
