New York Times Bestseller, Daphna Edwards Ziman, has woven together a story that covers everything you would look for in a great plot. Starting right off the bat with a murder with a fleeing lover and a best friend lawyer obsessed with her for many different reasons, it sounds like it is pretty predictable don't it? Not the case. You keep going back and forth on who the good guys are and the identity of the killer. It had enough surprises and suspense moments to keep me flipping the pages.
Kelly Jensen, a mother of 2 and fleeing for her life, is the greatest con-artist with a talent like no other. She can be who ever she wants to be, for she has mastered the skill of identity theft. With a horrible past that haunts her in the form of her possessive ex-husband, she can never really relax. He is always one step behind her. Luckily, the best friend of her now deceased lover, Jake is ready to take on the biggest case of his career and life for political and personal reasons.
My thouts:
Well... you can definitely tell it was written by a woman. That is not a sexist comment, just an observation and the reason why my husband stopped reading it. The reason I say this is that no man I know would act the way Jake did at times. It was unrealistic at parts but entertaining all the same.
The ending of the book was perfect for me. Not predictable and just sweetly justified. If she had ended the book any other way, I don't think it would have made too much of an impression.
Overall I give this The Gray Zone a 4 out of 5 (which is pretty good since it is not my usual genre :) If it was a tad bit more believable for me, it would have gotten a 5. Good plot with romance, humor, suspense and mystery. You can purchase the book by clicking on the picture below:
