Serving something new Saturday

Here is a new segment I will be adding to the blog to start getting the family ideas back in play. I will be trying a new recipe out each week and I will post the recipe each Saturday. When I have it done, I will try to remember to get the pictures of the finished project up on the post as well as an update. This week, I have so many I want to try but I thought I would try this one:

French Toast Supreme
Janis Hoople, Stranton, Michigan

3 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 ounces cream cheese, softened.
12 slices cinnamon bread
Kiwifruit and starfruit, optional

In a shallow bowl, beat eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla. Spread 1 tablespoon cream cheese on six slices of bread; top with remaining slices to make six sandwiches. Dip sandwiches in egg mixture. Cook in a lightly greased skillet until golden brown on both sides. Garnish with kiwi and starfruit if desired. Yield: 4-6 servings.

Results in my family?

They loved it! I couldn't find starfruit but I got the kiwi and fried them up on the griddle. Besides the youngest not liking the kiwis it was a unanimous vote to make it again :)

My family loves french toast and this was a great find! You can find this recipe in the Taste of Home 30-minute cookbook. Have you tried this out yet?
