Inside The Cover: Beauty for Ashes by Dorothy Love

.
From the Publisher:
She's a beautiful young widow
He's a southern gentleman with a thirst.
Both need a place to call home.

My review:

All Carrie Daly ever wanted was a husband, a home and to raise a family. Her dreams were stolen in a flash when her husband was killed in the Civil War. Knowing what true love felt like once, she is reluctant to set a date with Nate who she has promised herself to. She is determined to have that love again.

When she is returning home from getting a new dress to wear at her brother's wedding, she gets knocked down by a stranger protecting her from a spirited horse. This stranger's name is Griff and he stole her heart right away. Making things all the more confusing for Carrie since this stranger makes it clear he is on his way to Australia when his business is done in town.

I love reading Christian romance novels but some of them can be a little on the cheesy side for me. I read this book in 3 sittings. It was believable, it had secrets that kept you guessing and you couldn't help loving the characters who all had strong personalities. It was easy to get mad when you were supposed to be mad and teary eyed in the face of tragedies. What an enjoyable book! I found out after reading it that it is a second Hickory Ridge novel and there is another one coming out with a character they start introducing towards the end of this novel. I will definitely be reading both and hope more is to come!

You can buy this book for as low as $8.00 on Amazon.
