Photo gifts have always been one of my favorite things to give at Christmas time, especially for family members out of state. They are special, can last a life time and keeps the smiles going. I love to do photo books but lately I have really gotten into canvases. They are a great focal point in a room and adds a certain sense of style and family togetherness each time I put one up. I have never had a moment that someone has looked at one for the first time and not made a comment on it. So they are noticed!
This year, I checked out Mailpix.com. They offer all your favorite photo gifts but have some great offers as well. My father-in-law has been asking for some updated photos of my boys for quite some time now. Since his eye sight is not the greatest anymore, I knew that larger canvas print would be just the thing to get him. I chose one of the very few family pictures I own (we only have it because some stranger was nice enough to put my husband on the spot for it haha..). It is a picture of us at a Portland Seadogs Game celebrating the oldest boys achievement of most improved student. So it was a special memory and a perfect choice. We got the 11 x 14 print. For your convenience they have it set up where you can grab your picture right off your Facebook account. This is great for the less computer savvy people. It is what I did so I didn't have to fumble through my folders looking for this particular shot. However, I don't suggest it for a high quality photo gift because Facebook tends to diminish the resolution on your photos horribly! To see what I mean, upload your photo into an album, then download it.... compare this with the original... not cool! Anyways, we are here to talk about Mailpix and the added convenience of this option is nice.
I also grabbed a ceramic snowflake ornament with my husband and his sister printed on it to send to my sister in law. It is pictured above. I blurred out the faces out of respect for her. I had met her once before when my husband and I got married but she stayed a week with us this last year, along with other family members and we clicked right away. She is the best sister in law a gal could ask for. So I wanted to send her a little something special this year too. Her and my husband both lost their brother a year ago so they are all they have left for siblings. They live states apart though and don't get to see each other often at all. So an ornament that she can pull out every year to have him there in spirit seemed nice.
Both items came out great (especially with the pictures I chose), they arrived in a very timely fashion as well and were very safely shipped. The canvas was well braced in a box and the ornament came encased in a styrofoam holder. Since the order was not placed in time before Christmas, I have yet to give them out... but I know they are going to love them. I know I would! The only things I didn't like was that the ornaments cord that comes with it will not stay on. This is minor, since I can either tie for reinforcement or replace it with ribbon but I just wanted to throw it out there that it is that really thin golden craft cord. The only other thing I want to mention is that I think the shipping is higher than it needs to be and I think the company should be changing their shipping methods. I got both items separately in the mail. Not only does this drive up the cost for the consumer but it isn't very eco-friendly either. It cost me about $19.00 to have 2 items shipped. I know a gal that had several things made and every one one of them came separately. That can't be cost effective.
With many of the offers they have running though, it does make it worth it...especially right now. They are giving away a free Picture Keeper ( a $30 value) right now with your Mailpix order. You simply create your account (if you haven't done so already).. make an order and on the order confirmation page "like" them within their "Free Picture Keeper" box on the right side and you will be sent a unique code to claim your gift. This offer is only valid while supplies last. You will need to pay shipping. You also get 100 free prints with them when you sign up and until Jan. 14th, they are giving away a free 20 page brag book. This would be great to combine with your free Picture Keeper code! All of this just in time for Valentines Day. Guys, ladies would love a brag book and free Picture Keeper and ladies.. don't you think that the guys will like a picture coffee mug for work? Speaking of Valentine's Day... they are offering 50% all gifts in celebration! So don't waste anytime taking advantage of the free products and promotions!
