I don't know if you have ever had the luxury of losing valuable documents or photos to a virus, cyber attack or other mishap... but I have! One time my computer was smashed by an angry room mate, another time spyware attacked, and once a crash happened by an update! I have little faith in computers and how long they will be healthy. I do however, have faith in back ups. A separate back up in a fire proof safe would be my first choice, but an online back up is a very close second.
Right now I have all my most important things backed up by Trend Micro SafeSync. I feel pretty darn good right now. I have a trust worthy anti virus and 10 gigs of my photos / documents in an online back up. At first it was a little slow going because it was uploading every folder I wanted to back up. But after the initial upload, the updating of changed files was nice and quick.
The other great feature to Trend Micro SafeSync is that you can access your files from anywhere. So if you are not at your personal computer and want to show a family member something or you are at work and forgot an important document, you can access it from any computer that is online. How great is that?
The price is great too. You can choose how many gigs you need. For 20 gigs a year, it is $39.95. It goes up with the more space you need. But with 20 gigs you can store 4,000 pics/ 2,500 documents/ 4000 songs.
