The Natural Dentist - Healthy Gums rinse review and giveaway

So we have talked about removing tartar for healthy gums, and the perfect partnership with the tools in the last review would be a good mouthwash. The newest one that I have been trying out is The Natural Dentist Healthy Gums Antigingivitis Rinse in the peppermint twist flavor, an all natural mouthwash that is powered by nature but proven by science I have gone over this all with you before but just in case you didn't see the other reviews, I have been told I have the start of gingivitis from a dentist when I got my top wisdom teeth pulled. I have always bled when flossing, and this is why I hate it so much. I used floss picks and have no problem rinsing... I just hate flossing. But over time I have been noticing quite a difference. My gums aren't just bleeding, they are becoming inflamed, swollen and producing deep pockets. Now I am getting scared. I went into the dentist again, he tells me that there are no cavities, I just need a tartar cleaning. I will be getting a second opinion though, because I think it is worse and more advanced than that. Mouthwash is great. As long as it has little or no alcohol, I love to rinse. I can feel the benefits and I feel a lot more fresh.

This particular rinse is designed to help with bleeding gums "getting rid of the pink in the sink".  My mother's side of the family is prone to gum problems and obviously I seem to be no different. I do have mixed feelings on this rinse and let me explain why. First lets go over the basics and then my pros and cons.

Here is a list of all ingredients and I have added little notes to help you understand which each one is.
Active Ingredient: Aloe Vera (20%) used for Antigingivitis/ Antiplaque
Inactive Ingredients: Purified Water, Vegetable Glycerin (used as a substitute for alcohol and as a sweetener), Echinacea (known for its antibiotic and wound healing properties), Goldenseal (used for all sorts of things including infections of the mucus membranes like in the mouth), Calendula (use in many medicinal ways including salves to heal skin wounds), Citric Acid (a natural preservative and sour taste), Natural Flavors containing cinnamon oil, Grapefruit Seed Extract (believed to have antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties), Olivamidopropyl Betaine (inner salt, cleansing agent), Potassium Citrate (used as a buffering agent and more) and Copper Chlorophyllin Color (Chlorophyll taken from plants and modified with copper.. this is a natural colorant and in the US it is used in dry citrus beverages).

It is nice to know everything that is in this rinse and now have a better understanding at each ones function. Now onto my personal opinions on this rinse.

Pros:
I like that it has all natural ingredients. Even though I may not like the taste as much as others, I feel good about using it. Also, even with the pain on my right side, it is definitely help pointing out a problem and I know all the ingredients in the mouth wash is good for my mouth. So hopefully, even with the pain, it will chip away the problems I seem to have going on right now.

This rinse does not have alcohol. Except for that one spot in my mouth, it doesn't burn to rinse with and anyone could stand the 30 seconds of time.

For ones that love citrus flavored things, this may be just for you. My husband loves grapefruit and I'm sure he may love the taste of this. I haven't been able to get him to try it yet (he is currently finishing another one and likes a strong mint flavor when it comes to oral hygiene).

You can actually read study tests and results when they were developing this product and it was never tested on animals.

Cons:
When talking to my dentist, I tried telling him I think there is a hidden cavity on my right side. I can have any sweets touch that area, some mouthwashes and toothpaste even bothers it. When checked there was none. It was explained to me later that tooth pain is all the same. Whether you have a cavity or a deeply recessed gumline, it will feel the same to you. And this mouth rinse is not something you want to come in contact with these issues. I am able to work past it and keep rinsing but it gets very intense where I have that issue. Almost unbearable. Every time I think of spitting it out, it starts to subside.

The other thing that I did not particularly like about this rinse is the taste. It doesn't taste at all like peppermint to me. It tastes a lot like citrus to me with a back splash of bitter. It's kind of hard to explain but it doesn't leave me feeling as fresh and would not be my choice flavor for a mouth rinse. I've tasted all natural toothpaste with strawberry, maybe this would be an idea for a flavoring? Either way, you get used to it but is not anything to excite me for sure.
